Information you enter

The app can store a learner name, jurisdiction, permit date, license-stage and training answers, drive dates and times, day and night minutes, driving conditions, practiced skills, supervisor names, and edit history. This information is used only to provide the app's logging, progress, backup, restore, and document features.

Where information is stored

Records are stored locally in the app's protected container. When the device has an available iCloud account, Apple's private CloudKit service may mirror the records to that user's private iCloud database and to other devices signed in to the same account. The developer does not operate a server that receives these records and cannot inspect the user's private CloudKit content.

Backups and shared files

The app keeps up to 14 automatic recovery points in its local container. You can also create a readable JSON backup or a PDF and send it through the standard iOS share sheet. Those exported files are not encrypted by Driving Log; their destination and retention are controlled by you and the service you choose.

Retention and deletion

Removed drives remain in the app's Trash for up to 30 days unless restored or deleted sooner. Other records remain until you edit or delete them, remove the app's data, or manage the app's iCloud data through Apple settings. Files exported through the share sheet remain wherever you saved them until you delete them.

Optional usage analytics in version 1.3

If you enable “Share basic app usage” during setup or in Profile, Driving Log uses TelemetryDeck to understand which features work well and where purchasing Pro fails. Events include app opening, profile creation, completion of a drive, viewing Pro, loading its price, starting a purchase, the immediate purchase result, and requesting or opening an App Store review. A review request does not tell us whether Apple displayed a prompt or whether you submitted a rating.

Events contain fixed feature names and outcomes, an app-specific random identifier hashed before transmission, a random session identifier, and the SDK's app/device metadata such as app version, operating system, device model, language, region, and event timing. They never contain learner or supervisor names, email addresses, permit answers, driving dates or durations, notes, record identifiers, Apple Account information, payment details, or transaction identifiers. Analytics is not linked to your driving records or used for advertising.

You can turn sharing off in Profile at any time. This stops new collection, cancels pending uploads, and discards the local unsent queue. Data already sent cannot be recalled by the app. Enabling sharing again uses a new random identifier. TelemetryDeck processes and retains previously received events under its privacy policy; see its privacy FAQ for retention information. All app features remain available when analytics is off.

This website

This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and page views and measure page performance. It also uses GoatCounter to count page views and taps on the App Store buttons, so we can see which guides lead people to the app. Neither service sets cookies, fingerprints devices or identifies visitors; Cloudflare processes its data under its privacy policy and GoatCounter under its privacy policy. The site has no forms. If you email us to join the Android waitlist, we keep your address only to send a single notification if an Android version ships. It is never shared or added to any other list, and it is deleted on request — reply "remove" at any time.

The app and this site contain links to official government sources. Opening a link leaves the app or site and is governed by the destination website's privacy practices.

Children

Driving Log is a record-keeping tool for learner drivers and supervising adults. It is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information for the developer from children.

Changes

If the app's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosure will be updated.
