What to check before choosing any app
- Does it apply your state's rule? Texas credits at most 2 hours a day; North Carolina caps hours per week; Florida wants a notarized certification at the end. A running total alone can mislead you.
- Can you get your data out? Whatever you use, export or print every few weeks. Several apps had update bugs this summer that lost hours.
- Does your state accept a printout at all? Minnesota only accepts its own DVS form and Nevada only its DLD-130 form or the RoadReady app. In those states an app is a helper, not the paperwork.
- Who else needs to log? If two parents supervise, check whether both can write to one record without sharing a password.

Where Driving Log fits
Driving Log is the newest entry in the list and has no ratings yet. What it does differently: there is no account, the record lives on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud, both parents can contribute to one log, every state rule links to the official page it came from (last verified 2026-09-21), and the printable record with a signature block is free. The one-time Pro purchase adds extra learners, family collaboration and CSV import. It is iPhone-only today.
If RoadReady or a state program already works for your family, keep using it. This page exists so you can compare on facts, and the RoadReady comparison goes deeper on that one.
Keep the log with Driving Log
Free for one learner, no account required. Basic app usage sharing is optional and off by default. Every drive is stored on your iPhone and, when enabled, in your own private iCloud.
The waitlist is a plain email to us: it is used only to send one notification if an Android version ships, never shared, and deleted on request.
